At Bordon Infant and Junior Schools, we inspire children to develop a curiosity about the past and an understanding of how history has shaped the world around them. Through engaging enquiries, pupils learn to think and work as historians, asking questions, investigating evidence and developing an understanding of chronology, cause and consequence, change and continuity, similarity and difference, and historical significance.
Our carefully sequenced curriculum enables children to build their historical knowledge progressively from the Early Years through to Year 6. Pupils explore a diverse range of people, events and civilisations while developing the skills needed to analyse, interpret and evaluate historical evidence.
History is brought to life through a variety of enriching experiences, including educational visits, visitors and immersive learning opportunities. These experiences help children make meaningful connections with the past and deepen their understanding of the people, places and events they study.
Through the study of History, we aim to foster a lifelong love of learning about the past. Children develop an appreciation of different societies, cultures and perspectives, helping them to understand both their own heritage and the wider world. By exploring significant events and individuals from local, British and world history, pupils leave Bordon Infant and Junior Schools with the knowledge, skills and curiosity needed to continue their historical learning throughout their lives.
